TOP 10 of the biggest fairs in France

The Allostand Team

March 27, 2019

1 euro invested to exhibit at a fair allows exhibitors to achieve an average turnover of € 8 (source Unimev). However, participation in a fair has a significant cost for exhibitors, mainly due to the reservation of the exhibition area with the organizer as well as the service of the stand engineer responsible for making, producing, assembling and dismantling the custom stands.

Exhibiting at a fair obviously offers visibility in return, depending on the number of visitors, but also their potential interest in the products or services presented, that is to say the relevance of the chosen fair with regard to what the participating company offers.

In this context, we have produced the TOP 10 of the largest recurring fairs in France, classified according to their number of visitors. Provincial fairs are thus the most numerous to appear there, even if it is a Parisian event that tops the list ...

  1. Foire de Paris
  2. Foire Internationale de Marseille
  3. Foire de Tours
  4. FAV de Colmar
  5. Foire de Châlons-en-Champagne
  6. Foire Internationale de Bordeaux
  7. Foire de Lyon
  8. Foire Européenne de Strasbourg
  9. Foire Internationale de Metz
  10. Foire Internationale et Gastronomique de Dijon

1. Foire de Paris : 487 000 visitors

The Foire de Paris is organized by Comexposium and welcomes an average of 480,000 visitors and 1,500 exhibitors per year over 200,000 sq.m of exhibition space. The spring event at the Porte de Versailles is frequented each year by nearly half a million curious, who can on this occasion discover the different universes offered through the different halls (habitat, fashion, gastronomy, etc.) as well. than the famous Lépine competition which attracts the attention of the press every year. The size of this huge show and the number of exhibitors participating in it make the use of a stand builder even more necessary than for other events, in order to be sure of being visible to visitors within this superlative show.

Next edition: April 29 to May 9, 2022, Paris Expo Porte de Versailles

2. Foire Internationale de Marseille : 340 000 visitors

The Marseille event was created in 1924, and it will be so in 2020 at its 96th edition! Organized by SAFIM, it welcomes nearly 1,200 exhibitors and 345,000 visitors each year to Parc Chanot, near the Vélodrome stadium. This multi-thematic event offers various universes, from the unmissable gastronomy (Provençal or not) to everything relating to housing and its layout.

Next edition: September 24 - October 4, 2021, Marseille Chanot

3. Foire de Tours : 250 000 visitors

Organized by Tours Events, the Tours Fair welcomes an average of 250,000 visitors and 625 exhibitors over 44,500 sq.m of exhibition space. The Touraine institution is the second of the provincial events, attracting as many visitors in the spring as the Center-Val de Loire agglomeration has inhabitants! This spectacular ratio indicates quite explicitly its broad influence, well beyond the city that hosts it (Tours is far from being among the main French metropolises ...). Each stand (among the 625 present at each edition) is thus guaranteed to see a number of visitors.

Next edition: July 2-11, 2021, Parc Expo de Tours

4. FAV de Colmar : 236 000 visitors

Organized by Colmar Expo, the Colmar FAV welcomes an average of 236,000 visitors and nearly 350 exhibitors. The Alsatian wine event juxtaposes a classic fair, dedicated to the world of grapes, and a festival, where it is possible to attend concerts. This rather rare duality and the organization of the event in one of the densest regions of the country undoubtedly explain the high attendance at this show in the Grand Est.

Next edition: July 22 to 31, 2022, Parc des Expositions et des Congrès de Colmar

5. Foire de Châlons-en-Champagne : 226 000 visitors

The Châlons Fair welcomes an average of 226,000 visitors and 800 exhibitors and offers more than 200 conferences. The Champagne event is now in its seventy-second edition, a longevity that has enabled it to gain legitimacy far beyond the relatively modest city where it is held. It is organized in four different halls, each dedicated to a different universe, in which each exhibitor is sure to find the most suitable environment to set up his stand, with the help if necessary of a stand builder.

Next edition: September 3-13, 2021, Le Capitole en Champagne

6. Foire Internationale de Bordeaux : 200 000 visitors

Organized by the company Congrès et Expositions de Bordeaux (CEB), the Bordeaux International Fair welcomes an average of nearly 1,200 exhibitors and 200,000 visitors. The Gironde event prides itself on being the most important in France in terms of the sectors represented, that is to say the most varied of its kind. This diversity is obviously a strong point of the Bordeaux event, which can appeal to exhibitors from sectors neglected in other events. Its presence in the heart of one of the most dynamic French agglomerations is also an asset of this event.

Next edition: November 6-14, 2021, Bordeaux Exhibition Center

7. Foire de Lyon : 191 000 visitors

Organized by the Lyon company GL events, the Lyon Fair welcomes 191,000 visitors every year. The event was created in 1917 with the aim of highlighting French innovations. The event takes place at the Eurexpo exhibition center and now welcomes every year, at the beginning of spring, nearly 1,000 exhibitors around 2 major universes: Home, everything to furnish, decorate and take care of your home; Shopping, around fashion, gastronomy, beauty and sport.

Next edition: March 18-28, 2021, Eurexpo Lyon

8. Foire Européenne de Strasbourg : 174 000 visitors

Organized by Strasbourg Events, the Strasbourg European Fair welcomes an average of 170,000 visitors and nearly 900 exhibitors. The Strasbourg event was held for the first time in 1932 and is now in its 87th edition (it will be held in September 2019). This longevity and its presence in one of the densest regions of Europe (Germany is very close to the Alsatian metropolis ...) undoubtedly explain the continued success of this generalist event in the Grand Est.

Next edition: September 3-13, 2021, Parc des Expositions Strasbourg

9. Foire Internationale de Metz : 170 000 visitors

Organized by GL events, the Metz Fair welcomes nearly 170,000 visitors and 550 exhibitors. The Metz event is taking advantage of its presence in the heart of Europe to bring together twenty different nationalities among its many exhibitors. Participants are gathered in a large space of 50,000 square meters and nine halls, which provides plenty of space for an effective presentation of their products and services.

Next edition: September 24 - October 4, 2021, Parc des Expositions de Metz Métropole

10. Foire Internationale et Gastronomique de Dijon : 160 000 visitors

Organized by Dijon Congrexpo, the Dijon International and Gastronomic Fair welcomes an average of nearly 160,000 visitors and 600 exhibitors. The Dijon event is distinguished by the highlighting of the gastronomic universe, which makes perfect sense for an event taking place in the city that was the capital of the Dukes of Burgundy! The two halls, one of which is on several floors, are located in an exhibition center in the middle of the city, and thus easily accessible to visitors even without motorized vehicles. This fall event, which takes place every year in November, will be in its 90th edition in 2020, making it one of the oldest of its kind in France!

Next edition: October 30 - November 11, 2021, Parc des Expositions et Congrès de Dijon
